"You work for the library? Must be nice to just read books all day."

I've heard that so many times and it's just not true! We are too busy working to read. But I love to hit the library on my day off to check out a nice big pile of fun books and movies.

Then I go home, fire up some popcorn, and party down!

Well, folks, it’s time for another round of graphic novels. I must admit that up until my recent vacation I have not been reading very much, maybe it’s the heat of the summer or that I’ve been binge watching too much TV, or that my brain has just been far too distracted to concentrate on words on a page (it’s that one).

Time travel is a fascinating thing. H. G. Wells first popularized the concept in his 1895 novel The Time Machine. Einstein even theorized that it was possible, but only in one direction. You could go forward in time, but you couldn’t go back.

A few months ago, I wrote about the Danish concept of hygge – the feeling of contentment derived from coziness and comfort. Little did I know that Germans have their own “hygge,” called gemütlichkeit!

If you have been reading my blogs for awhile now then you know that I LOVE summer. It’s truly unfortunate for me that I was not born on the best coast/west coast and was unable to spend every waking moment with sea salt hair and tanned toned legs from early morning surf sessions and afternoons spent roller skating on boardwalks. This is the alternate reality I live in though, the dream world me, which is always blue skies, desert pink motels, and crashing waves.

Anyone who has been keeping up with David Lynch for the past 30 years knows that he and composer Angelo Badalamenti make quite the team. Badalamenti has scored every one of Lynch’s cinematic projects since Blue Velvet in 1986, garnering himself many awards. Most recently his music can be heard as the soundtrack to this summer’s hit series, Twin Peaks: The Return. What may come as a surprise to many is the fact that these two masters only met by coincidence.

On June 28, 1969, members of the LGBT community rioted after police raided a gay bar called Stonewall Inn. The Stonewall Inn Riots proved to be a turning point in the LGBT civil rights movement. In celebration and memory of this momentous event in America, Pride Month now takes place in June. During this month, cities all over the nation host parades, marches, rallies, festivals, and other events to promote respect, equality, and pride for the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. In honor of Pride month, and to help spread inclusiveness and representation I have created a list of some adult and YA science fiction and fantasy books that feature or focus on characters that are LGBTQ+.

On those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer there is nothing quite like a compelling book to keep you company. If you are lucky enough to take a vacation, or even if you get to stay home, you will need something to read. Here is a short list of hot reads for this summer’s reading pleasure, and all are available in several formats, including eBook.

Summer fun for people who’d rather stay inside, that is. Seasonal affective disorder is usually associated with wintertime, but did you know that 10% of people with seasonal affective disorder get bleh, blue, and bummed out in the summer? Reader, that’s me! Fortunately, my friendly neighborhood library is filled with happy distractions to help me get through the season.

    Hello again, romance readers!

I have some good news for you: SUMMER IS COMING. You know what that means? Pool reads. Beach reads. Lounge-chair-with-lemonade reads. Romance is one of my favorite genres year-round, but it especially lends itself to warm weather and sunshine (and long plane rides... or while waiting in epic lines… or snow days… well, I digress).

Let’s discuss the benefits, shall we?
